The Bupa Foundation is giving community organisations across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) the opportunity to share in $640,000 in grants to support programs that support local mental health and sustainability initiatives. This is an increase of $86,000 on the 2024 Community Grants investment, with a view to funding more projects for a broader and more significant impact.

The Bupa Foundation’s Community Grants program will give selected charities access to up to $10,000 as part of an initiative that has provided more than $2 million to support communities across ANZ since 2019.

Michael Burgess, Bupa New Zealand’s Director of Sustainability & Corporate Affairs, said the program is designed to support community organisations in implementing practical health-focused initiatives that genuinely benefit local communities.

“These grants are more than financial support — they reflect our deep commitment to helping people live longer, healthier, and happier lives, while contributing to a better world. As a health care company, we recognise that creating lasting change requires collaboration and action at every level, especially within local communities.”

"Passionate, grass-roots organisations can have a significant impact on the wellbeing of people and the environment and that’s why we want to partner with them because we know we can’t do it alone,” Michael said.

In 2024, the Bupa Foundation awarded nearly $580,000 to a 54 community groups across ANZ which were diverse in terms of their location and purpose, with all Australian States and Territories represented along with both the North and South Islands of New Zealand. These included Big Brothers Big Sisters Christchurch, The Kindness Collective Foundation, Endangered Species Foundation and Dementia Wellington.

"The impact we've already seen from our 36 past Community Grant recipients in New Zealand has been inspiring. If you're a community organisation making a real difference, we want to hear from you— apply for a Bupa Foundation Community Grant and help us create healthier, happier communities together,” Michael said.
