Yes! Blua is completely free for family members and loved ones. Simply download the app, log in, and you're ready to go.

Blua is currently available by invitation only at three care home sites. If your family member lives at one of these sites, your care home will be in touch with everything you need to get started.

Yes, but you will need the resident or their authorised representative to consent to you having access to the app.  This is due to the personal nature of the information that is available in Blua. In the first instance, please speak to your family member, following that please speak to one of our Bupa site team. 

No problem, you can access the profiles of any Bupa residents within Blua provided you have the consent of the individuals. You will be able to switch between residents in the home screen.

All information in Blua comes from Bupa’s existing care systems that care teams regularly update. This accurately reflects what’s happening at the care home, and it’s not adding additional task for our care team to complete.

If you have forgotten either your password or email address, you will find a link on the login page for both, this will guide you through the process to reset them.  If you have any questions around this, then please contact your Bupa site who will be able to help you. 

Please use your NZ Bupa ID, the resident’s date of birth, and the email address and mobile phone number we have on record for you. Your NZ Bupa ID has been sent in your Blua email invitation. Please use the same email address and mobile phone number that you use for Bupa updates/newsletters/phone conversations.

Please make sure that you use the email address or mobile phone number we have on record for you, along with the resident’s DOB and your NZ Bupa ID (sent in an email to you with your invitation to Blua). If you are providing correct information, and you keep receiving the message that your information doesn't  seem to match, please contact your Bupa site for further assistance. 

It’s important to verify your details to make sure your information isn’t being used by people you didn’t give permission to. A digital identity is a secure way to prove who you are online by verifying personal details like your email address and mobile number. 

At Bupa, keeping your information safe and secure is incredibly important to us and we pride ourselves on taking a best practice approach to ensure that you and your data is protected. The Blua app itself has been developed with a ‘Secure by Design’ approach. This means that security has been built into every stage of the development lifecycle, from initial design through to deployment.

Security has been embedded into every layer of the Blua app experience. This includes:  

• Rigorous security testing – regular penetration testing and vulnerability assessments are performed to validate the effectiveness of our controls.   
• Control validation – all critical security controls are tested and verified before each release, ensuring they meet strict compliance and industry standards.  
• Data protection – your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, using industry-standard encryption protocols.   
• Access controls – role-based access and strict authentication mechanisms ensure that only authorised users and systems can access sensitive information.   
• Continuous monitoring – we continuously monitor the cloud hosting environment for unusual activity or emerging threats and respond swiftly to potential risks. 

You can delete your account by deleting the Bupa digital identity that you created when you signed up for the Blua app. To delete your Bupa digital identity:  

1. Navigate to the You page.  
2. Select ‘delete account’.  
3. Select ‘continue, and you’ll be redirected to Bupa to delete your Bupa digital identity.  

When deleting your Bupa digital identity, Bupa will ask you to:

1. Verify your identity with a code sent to your phone. 
2. Confirm that you want to delete your Bupa digital identity by clicking ‘Yes, delete digital identity’.   
   
   

We will send you an email confirming that your Bupa digital identity has been deleted

If you delete your Bupa digital identity in the Blua app, we will delete your saved information in the app: 

• Email 
• Mobile number  
• Password 

We only keep de-identified usage data for analytics and product optimisation. The data is stored in a format that cannot be linked back to you.
