It was ‘top of the morning’ for Bupa Totara Gardens Retirement Village residents in Whangārei as they celebrated St Patrick’s Day with a special morning tea recently.
Green was the dress code, as was the colour of the food items such as cupcakes, green tea, and asparagus rolls.
There were prizes for best dressed male and female residents and an Irish quiz. Village resident, Rani, says it’s regular social functions like these that bring a real sense of community and enjoyment to the village.
“I pulled out all the green clothing I could find in my wardrobe. There was some delicious food and we even taught our village coordinator, Jessie the Irish jig! We all love a good village get-together,” Rani says.
