Bupa Totara Gardens Community Centre Opens

The Totara Gardens community centre boasts communal lounge areas, movie room, billards table, gym, putting green and outdoor BBQ area and with the new, larger premises residents will have more activities on offer including indoor bowls, tai chi, pilates and line dancing to name a few.

Bupa Managing Director, Pedro Sanchez, was on hand to open the centre.

Bupa Totara Gardens Manager Jessie Beddis says, “It’s a great day to finally be opening our community centre. Despite Covid and lockdowns, we have pushed on with its construction and it is fantastic to see that perseverance pay off."

“We now have a warm, modern place for our residents to come together and enjoy each other’s company.”

Pedro says Bupa is investing further in Whangarei with the construction of its care home on the existing Totara Gardens village site.

“Jessie and our team at Totara Gardens, and its residents, have fast become part of the local community. We see a bright future in Whangarei for Bupa and our investment in a care home here is both an investment in the community, creating local employment, and shows our intent to provide options for care solutions for the people of Whangarei, from independent living through to assisted living and hospital-level care,” he says.

Once complete, Bupa Totara Gardens will offer both independent and assisted living for up to 56 bed care home, 14 serviced apartments and 78 villa residents. Modern facilities in the new care home with include the latest medical and care equipment.
