Safer at home with Bupa
Caring for a loved one at home can be both a precious and worrying experience. Familiar surroundings are comfortable and reassuring, but ensuring the safety of your loved one can be difficult at times.
Knowing whether they are still safe in bed, have moved from their favourite chair and not returned or have wandered outdoors is important information. People with a range of medical conditions or a higher risk of falls can find a Bupa sensor helpful, as can people needing night time care. Our services can be adapted to suit your individual needs. Unobtrusive sensors can be placed at strategic points in the home.
These will automatically raise an alert if activated either to a carer, via a personal pager or our 24 hour, seven day a week monitoring station. This allows your loved one more freedom at home and you, their carer or family can be more relaxed, secure in the knowledge that you will be alerted immediately, if needed.
As a Bupa customer you will receive:
- All emergency ambulance fees from alarm activations paid for when you post the invoice to us at: Freepost 120011, PO Box 947, Tauranga 3140.
- At least one home visit per year from one of our Healthcare Field Officers.
- Assistance to reinstall your alarm if you move house.
- Support and servicing of your alarm as needed from your local Healthcare Field Officer.
- Our quarterly Bupa Pulse newsletter.
Preventing injury and helping people maintain or regain independence is key to enabling people to be safe at home. Bupa has a range of products to help.
We have a range of sensors available, which are designed to detect when a person is moving about unexpectedly and can be programmed to an individuals needs and routines.
They can be linked to the personal pager of an in-house caregiver or to our monitoring centre, which is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Either way, an alarm will be activated if a person is at risk.
Bupa’s range of detectors, tailored to the needs of the user, can detect movement or lack of it. They will notify if a person has fallen or if there is smoke in the home. Detectors can either be linked to the personal pager of an in-house caregiver or to our monitoring centre, which is monitored 24 hours a day.
