Feeling the love on Valentines Day

Many of our residents’ partners have passed away and others are unable to share Valentines Day with their loved one. That’s why many of our care home and village managers go the extra mile to make February the 14th an extra special day.

A special day for everyone

Last year, St Kilda Care Home held a Dine and Dance. Residents’ partners were invited and everyone enjoyed a lovely evening of good food and entertainment. Glenn Carley entertained with music from the 1950’s and 1960’s. The residents enjoyed dancing to the music and chatting to one another, with some claiming that it was one of their favourite events.

Let’s decorate and eat cake!

Pink streamers, red hearts and balloons - Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to have a party. Shane the Care Home Manager and his activities team at Whitby Care Home are planning on getting the residents involved in decorating Whitby and then they’ll celebrate with a delicious heart shaped cake.

Last year, thirteen of our care homes made special red velvet Valentines Day themed cup cakes. They were decorated with hearts and vibrant red icing. Friends and family were invited to join the residents for Valentines Day.

Be my Valentine?

Sue the Village Manager from Wattle Downs Retirement Village is planning to surprise her residents’ with chocolate hearts. Everyone will receive a special treat from Sue, which she’ll pop into their letterboxes.

Celebrate love with a renewal of vows

Judi the Care Home Manager at The Gardens offered the 4 couples in her care home the opportunity to renew their vows. Everyone dressed for the occasion and they had cake to celebrate the special occasion.

We hope you have a happy Valentines Day!
