A welcoming, well-equipped, purpose-built home, Avondale Rest Home and Hospital is known in the local community for our homely atmosphere and for the excellent care provided by our friendly staff. You can find us in the heart of Avondale, close to all amenities. As well as rest home and hospital care, we also offer secure dementia care (for women only), as well as palliative and respite care. We also provide long-term residential care for younger people (60+ years) who are physically disabled.
Dementia care - Secure (For women only)
The smaller size of our dementia unit offers a calm environment for our 15 female residents. They can enjoy the spacious lounge, with a separate dining area, that leads to a lovely secure garden area.

We pride ourselves on providing exceptional standards of individualised care, 24 hours a day, according to each resident’s tailored care plan. We really get to know our residents, so that we can meet their emotional and social needs, as well as their physical ones.

It’s very important to us that our residents feel at home. We welcome visitors at any time, and encourage our residents to personalise their rooms.
Avondale Rest Home and Hospital is home to many residents from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Some of our staff are multi-lingual, and we have positive, established relationships with local Kaumatua.
Community and activity
Our residents have a variety of lounge areas in which they can relax, entertain guests or socialise with other residents. We know how important it is to keep in touch with friends and family, so our door is always open to guests. Our wide-ranging activities programme provides variety, stimulation and enjoyment to our residents’ days.
