There are 3 simple words for me to describe in working for Bupa Care Services. Its Learning, Love and Laughter…. Nursing is a continuous learning, the Love and Care for the patient will always be there. Laughter at work is just around the corner, though there are stress and problems but Fun is always present at work. Charisma Roblete – Registered Nurse

My name is Glory May Recierdo, I trained in the Philippines as a Registered Nurse and moved to New Zealand 4 years ago. I have worked for these 4 years as a Registered Nurse for Bupa Care Services at Te Whanau Elderly Care Centre based in Levin. For the last 2 years I have taken up the role of Clinical Co-ordinator, which was a great opportunity for me to further my education and extend my RN knowledge. Bupa Care Services has been very helpful in guiding me in the right direction regarding employment, provided me with training and education and supports me in my new role throughout. I am proud to be part of the Bupa Care Services.

Glory May Recierdo – Registered Nurse

I started at Bupa Care Services as a Human Resources Advisor working for the Health Operations team in January 2008 this year but now in August I'm an HR Consultant under the Human Resources team. I have never worked within an aged care organisation before but at the time I started I had my two elderly parents either in hospital or aged care so personally I knew the peace of mind a well run aged care Hospital or Care Home can provide to residents' families.

The best thing about working with Bupa is doing the work I enjoy in human resources and working with an organisation that has a vision of delivering whole hearted care and values of respect for individuals, compassion from the heart, people come first and sustainability for the future. I've found the people I work with aspire to these beliefs and being part of Human Resources I can help create the culture to further develop this.

Jenny De Carteret - HR

Little did I realise that my professional career will prosper in New Zealand. I felt a mixture of anxiety and excitement as my plane landed in Auckland, New Zealand after 18 hour flight four years ago, in July 2004. I knew little about this foreign land except that it is blessed with beautiful landscape, harsh weather but warm and friendly people. I told myself that if things do not go well in 5 years time, I will pack up and take my family back to the Philippines.

After obtaining my Practising Certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand, I buckled down to work as a night registered nurse with Bupa Care Services in Stokeswood Resthome and Hospital starting in September 2004. With hard work and determination, I became the Clinical Manager in October 2005. The work we did was difficult and the pressure we faced was enormous but despite these hardships, we were able to deliver quality services to residents mainly because our employer was fully supportive of our efforts.

In June 2007, I was appointed as the Facility Manager. Not only does Bupa Care Services support us in our present endeavours but they also look after our professional development by encouraging us to pursue further studies. At present, I am taking a Post Graduate Course in Hospice Palliative Care under Whitireia Polytechnic School with the support of my employer.

My life and those of my family has improved since I arrived here in New Zealand. We have found a new house. Both my husband and I are successful in our field of work and our children are happy and doing well in school. My family and I have decided to stay here in New Zealand indefinitely. All these would not be possible without the wholehearted support of our employers and the New Zealand government.

Joycelyn Go – Facility Manager

My background and career roots began as an Enrolled Nurse. Went into management roles within the District Health Board system in 2000, and then progressed into contracting and consulting roles. My journey with Bupa Care Services commenced as a contractor in March 06 as a Relief Facility Manager. I have also spent some time within Human Resources as an Advisor which was enjoying seeing how operations are managed from a corporate perspective but with my passion being working with people in April 08 I went back out and about within facilities as Reliving Manager. Just to show how supportive and versatile your career can be in Bupa I have now come full circle and returned to corporate office as Learning and Development - Trainer.

Working at Bupa enables you to have the ability to utilise your skills within all types of roles. Career options are endless!
