Ministry of Health Certification Audits

It can be difficult for members of the public to understand or judge the standard of care that a rest home or hospital provides without experience in this area. 

Bupa takes pride in the quality of care that we provide to our residents and we don’t hesitate in making these audit reports available to you here (this is a voluntary act on our behalf and supports our ethic of openness and transparency). The language used in these reports can be a little confusing so here’s a quick ‘de code’

Each of our 45 care homes undergoes a regular audit. The quality of our service is measured against the Health and Disability Sector standards. These standards have been written by the Ministry of Health – there are 249 that we are rated against!

For each of the 249 standard we can be scored CI, FA, PA or UA

• CI Continuous Improvement - We fulfilled all the requirements of the standard and could demonstrate that we regularly review and make improvements in these areas. This means we do over and above the minimum standard in this part of the service
• FA Fully Attained - We fulfilled all the requirements of the standard – we do all that is expected for this standard
• PA Partially Attained - this is where the care home has a system or process in place but could not demonstrate that is always implemented, this means we could do a little better in this area
• UA Unattained - TThe care home fails to meet the required standard in this area
